The third Tchaikovsky book I ended up reading at the same time as the two novellas. This one is long, and the start of a space-opera series. Full of found-family misfit crews, weird aliens, and sinister agents of various governments and criminal organizations. Space battles and bar fights. Oh, and the moon-sized "Architects" that destroy inhabited plants. Because someone has to save the universe, right?

First in the series, but wraps the story-line up nicely enough that I'm not irritated about waiting for the next book. Now, off to read something by a different author and in a different genre.

science-fiction, space-opera, adventure, aliens, found-family, fast-paced
